NBC’s ‘The Voice’: Adam Levine, Gwen Stefani to perform in first season 7 live shows
For all of you who love the coaches doing a little bit of everything on “The Voice,” the following announcement may very well be music to your ears.
On Monday night, Adam Levine’s band Maroon 5 is going to descend on the first episode of the live playoffs, and will be performing the group’s new song “Animals.” This is something that they have already done on “Saturday Night Live” on NBC, “The X Factor” UK, and a variety of other shows.
Meanwhile, Gwen Stefani is going to step up on the stage the following day in order to perform her new single “Baby Don’t Lie,” which is her first solo single in several years. This will be her first primetime performance of the song ever.
This sort of thing is completely standard for the NBC show, which likes to give its coaches just about as many different outlets as possible in order to strut their stuff, and ultimately show off some of their individual talent. We’re sure that this is also a way for the producers to give something more to the coaches in return for them getting paid for their time on the show.
With this being said, we hope that some of the past artists on the show do get a chance to come back and perform. While Josh Kaufman is busy right now on Broadway, why not bring back Melanie Martinez for “Carousel,” given its hype on “American Horror Story” these days? Many contestants are doing quite a bit right now.
