‘The Mentalist’ season 7 spoilers: Premiere date for Simon Baker, cast’s return revealed
Are we going to see “The Mentalist” air beyond early 2015? It seems unlikely, based mostly on the news that we are hearing right now.
CBS confirmed today that the Simon Baker series will return for its seventh and final season on Sunday, November 30 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time, and they will air new episodes here until January 7. From there, the show will move to Wednesdays, and eventually wrap on February 18 with a two-hour series finale.
Is it theoretically possible that the studio could decide to shop the show somewhere after this? Sure, but it seems unlikely. If CBS is giving you the chance to craft a series finale after seven years on the air, it seems best to just call it a day then. We’re not going to be angry about getting this much of the show, especially since we got to see the end of Red John and also Jane and Lisbon getting together. These were the two things that we were really hoping would be highlighted by the time the series came to a close. We really don’t have much to complain about right now.
The only thing that is somewhat of a bummer here is that the show is going to be dealing for a few weeks with the dreaded NFL lead-in, which will probably lead to it airing at extremely random times all across the board depending on how long games go. At least it is not at 10:00 again, and forced to be preempted on some occasions like last season / what “CSI” has been going through lately.
