Ratings: Is ‘Sleepy Hollow’ season 2 in danger of being beheaded?

Even though “Gotham” had some good news in the ratings for the first time in a while, unfortunately that good fortune did not necessarily transfer over to its Fox companion “Sleepy Hollow.” This was at least one of the biggest takeaways that we got from seeing the numbers that came out from Monday night’s TV lineup.

The latest episode of the show drew a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which is a new series low for the show (at least in the preliminary numbers). Meanwhile, “Gotham” drew a 2.4, and may have received a little bit of a boost due to having Victor Zsasz making his first appearance on the show.

Is there a reason to worry about Tom Mison and company? Not right now, even if the numbers are lower. Fox is in pretty terrible shape right now. “Utopia” is gone, “Mulaney” is likely next, and we don’t see a big future coming up for “Red Band Society.” “Gracepoint,” meanwhile, is a limited series. Basically, the only reliable scripted shows Fox has is this one, “Gotham,” and “Bones,” which is a decade into its run at the moment.

The only bummer for Fox is that “Sleepy Hollow” is not meant to have a 22-episode season, and with it eventually gone, they are really going to be up a creek. Suddenly, so many of their eggs are going to be in the basket of “American Idol,” which has seen its own ratings decline to a great extent over the past few years. Still, we won’t be shocked if it is the network’s highest-rated show in early 2015.

Our advice for all the Sleepyheads out there? Watch live. We know there’s a ton of competition at that time, but just watch whatever else is on your schedule on your DVR later. “The Voice” isn’t going to miss your viewership right away.
