‘Saturday Night Live’ music: Prince, 3rdEyeGirl perform ‘Plectrumelectrum,’ ‘Marz’
Prince has always followed his own beat, so should it really be much of a surprise that he chose to do so on this weekend’s new “Saturday Night Live” episode, as well? He had a longer musical set than most other artists do when they take on the show before “Weekend Update” … but come on. It’s Prince. NBC could have made him half the show and few were going to complain.
“Plectrumelectrum” and “Marz” – These are two of the primary songs performed by Prince and his all-female band 3rdEyeGirl, and all you had to was listen to the audience reaction to know what they studio thought of it. His music is eclectic, but you really don’t get the melody or the sense of its talent until you listen a few times. That is what makes performances of unfamiliar songs trickier.
Still, there is a very hard time denying just how talented this guy is a musician. One of the best is the entire world.
The second song? – We were waiting for one, and we even saved a spot in this article to discuss one. Yet, it didn’t happen. We know that he had an extended run for his first performance, but when was the last time this happened? If they can give Paul McCartney a ton of time to perform, we thought that Prince would get two sets, even if one of them was pretty long.
For those looking for a video, we’ll have one tomorrow.

He actually performed four soungs – “Clouds”, “PlectrumElectrum”, “Marz” and then “Another Love”. I agree he should have been given more time, particularly to hear full versions of these songs, but it was still a kickazz performance.
