‘Call the Midwife’ season 4: Could a new show from creator be on the way?
So to hear that the show’s creator may already be looking at getting another project elsewhere should not come as much of a surprise in the slightest. Per a new report, Heidi Thomas is working on an American / British co-production of a series that would be about nurses in America. The story would revolve around Mary Breckinridge, the founder of the unique Frontier Nursing Service, and it will be filmed on location in Kentucky in the event it ends up moving forward.
In theory, this could be an interesting show, but it is also far too early to really say anything for sure. We do at least know that co-productions can work pretty well, given that there have been a few of them on TV already over the past few years. “Dracula” was an interesting example of one that was a part of the fall season last year, and had the ratings been better over on NBC, it could have had some great opportunities to move forward.
“Call the Midwife” season 4 premieres on the BBC in the new year and in PBS in March, and the biggest challenge for it will merely be pushing the story forward following the sudden exit of original series star Jessica Raine.
