‘Downton Abbey’ season 5, episode 7 preview: Hugh Bonneville, and a sick Isis the Dog

Isis -This past week, there have been quite a few “Downton Abbey” stories breaking, and many of them have revolved around the character who we never suspected to be in the spotlight in a million years: Isis the dog.

At this given moment, there is already a whole lot of speculation out there in regards to why Isis is suddenly ill going into these final episodes of the season. There are many who suspect that the poor pooch may be a casualty of circumstance, as the ISIS military group is causing the show to want to distance themselves from the name. That has already been denied, with the claim being that all stories were crafted before ISIS started to make headlines.

Also, we’d be rather peeved if for some reason “Downton Abbey” was making plans for their storylines based on someone or something out there with a similar name. That would be like punishing all people named Katrina because of the hurricane, or not celebrating your birthday because it took place on September 11.

In the end, we feel like the show needs to do what is best for the show, and we’re mostly shocked that there is time being spent with the dog anyway. We love pets, but has Isis ever been so significant to the story that this needs to be a big Hugh Bonneville plot point? We’ll be sad if the dog does go away, but would not be shocked if season 6 picks up, and there is yet again another dog at the Abbey.
