‘Blue Bloods’ season 5, episode 7 preview: Tom Selleck’s troubles in ‘Shoot the Messenger’

CBS LogoAre you ready to see what comes next on “Blue Bloods”? There is no doubt that this show has a formula that works for it. You have a story that challenges the members of the police force out on the field, and then you also have one that puts Frank through the wringer. It is not easy to be in power, and he is having to realize that due to a difficult interview on “CBS This Morning.” (Norah O’Donnell is going to guest star as herself.)

The title for this hour is “Shoot the Messenger,” and in the synopsis below, you can see some of why Tom Selleck’s character is struggling in the first plac.e

“Frank is blindsided during an on-air interview when he and the interim District Attorney disagree over an issue. Meanwhile, Danny’s new boss rides along with him, but their methods and personalities clash as they investigate a drive-by shooting.”

We have no doubt that Frank will eventually figure this out, mostly because he always manages to somehow tow the line, even if it is not particularly easy.

What has impressed us the most about this season of “Blue Bloods,” though, is its consistency. Despite airing at a very tough timeslot, the show continually manages to get more viewers than anything else on any network for the night. While you have to wish that there would be more viewers in the key 18-49 demographic, how many did you really think that you were going to have given Selleck is the lead?
