‘The Bachelor’ spoilers: Chris Soules’ premiere episode to be three-hour, live affair
Apparently, ABC really wants to get big ratings out of the premiere of “The Bachelor.” Not only that, but they assume that you are going to be watching for a rather long time in order to do so.
According to TVLine, the first episode of Chris Soules’ season is going to be a three-hour affair, and there will be a mixture of pre-taped coverage (the typical contestants exiting out of the limos and so on), and also a live component that features Chris Harrison and company inside the studio. There may be some similarities in here to what the show has done recently for their finales, which include a live “After the Final Rose” component.
Is this a good move? In theory, we understand it. You want to ensure that you have people watching the show live, and if you make it feel like an event and not something you can record, this may very well happen. However, our concern would be that there are viewers who don’t want to give up this much time to a premiere episode, and could look at this runtime and turn away without giving it a chance. We feel like three hours is better when you are near the end, and you already have people hooked on the show. It’s a little harder convincing people to watch from the get-go.
We are going to have some further news related to “The Bachelor” soon, so be sure to be on the lookout for some of that! Hopefully, this is also going to include at least a few more updates on the subject of how this premiere will go.
