ABC’s ‘Revenge’ season 4, episode 3 review: Did Emily learn the truth about David Clarke?

Emily -Throughout the first few episodes of “Revenge” season 4, one of our biggest fears has been more or less whether David Clarke was going to be worthy of a dunce hat by the end of this. What has this guy been doing for the entirety of his life since faking his own death? Was he off in a hole somewhere?

Through much of the first 45 minutes or so, he had no problem trusting Victoria at every stop, and that included when he was told to stay far away from Emily Thorne. Why? It was as simple as that she didn’t want David to learn the truth.

As a matter of fact, part of her plan included roping in Charlotte, and then taking all of the good stuff Emily did and transporting it onto her. We don’t know how she thought that this was a good idea; wouldn’t David figure this out eventually? It was the classic Victoria move to put a band-aid on a broken bone and then hope for the best. The best is not always the right option, though.

After Emily approached Victoria’s temporary home about Charlotte, David went on the run for her. The shocker at the end of the hour was that David seemingly recognized her sleeping in bed, and while Emily did not see him, the previews for next week give it away: It’s happening.

The rest of this episode was somewhat crazy, and we’re not sure how we feel about it. One of the biggest highlights was seeing Daniel Grayson, in the wake of getting thrown out of his hotel room, talking about Victoria’s insane-asylum buddy at the bar. This is far too big of a coincidence for us to buy it. Grade: B-.
