‘Hawaii Five-0’ season 5, episode 3 review: Danny hunts for Matt, Kono catches a wave

Hawaii Five-0 -Danny is in a pretty bad situation: He has to find Marco’s missing money (18 million dollars) or unspeakable things are going to happen to his brother Matt. Danny has never been one to take a threat from a bad guy, but when they have his brother… it’s a different story.

Danny goes straight to Steve and tells him the situation with Marco, Matt and the money. Steve brings up the idea that if Matt (a fugitive for the past 3 years) had 18 million in cash he would be using it to stay under the radar, and that if Matt knew where the money was, and Marco actually had Matt then Marco would know where the money is… but since he doesn’t Steve thinks Marco is rattling Danny to get Matt’s location to get the money.

Danny decides to rattle Marco back: He confronts Marco, punches him in the stomach and says that he thinks he’s bluffing about having Matt.  Marco gives him three days to get him the money and he will give Matt back at that point. He won’t give Danny any proof that he actually has Matt, but Danny starts to believe him.

Danny pulls out an old postcard Matt sent him saying “wish you were here”, and Danny thinks the money is a treasure map and that the money is at the spot on the post card. SO is the money there? After digging up many, many holes… Danny finds the cash.

Jerry is still thinking that Thomas (the book store owner) is running a counter fitting business and even though Steve thinks Jerry is wrong he runs Thomas’ name through the system and it comes up clean.  Jerry has his friend bring a rare book to the shop to sell (but really it has a listening device in it), and Thomas buys the book.

Best part of the episode – watching Kono in a high speed surfing chase and taking them down with one crazy jump.  She’s so badass. Episode grade: B+
