NBC’s ‘Hannibal’ season 3 spoilers: A good sign for Mason Verger fans

Hannibal -The moment that we saw Michael Pitt as Mason Verger on “Hannibal,” we knew that he was going to be awesome in the role. He brings such a general creepiness to the role, but not in a harmless-creepy way. Rather, the guy is straight-up terrifying, and he also ate his own face. That was one of the most grotesque things that we have probably seen on the show, and that’s saying something since we also saw a guy crawl out of a horse.

So for those of you wanting to see more of the character, be prepared to celebrate that the NBC series is currently casting the role of Cordell, who is the personal doctor to Mason. Per TVLine, he is “quiet, very intelligent, and definitely creepy … [He is] attentive and gentle with Mason, a professional who cares about his work, but we get a sense he might be as sadistic as his boss — and a perfect fit to become his potential henchman.”

There is no confirmation yet that Pitt will return, but isn’t this the best sign that you can possibly get that he will be back? We think so. The larger question right now is when he’ll be back. Most of the first half of season 3 will feature Will Graham searching after Hannibal Lecter in Europe, and it is unclear as to how much many of the familiar faces at the BAU or elsewhere will be included in this part of the story. The only actor we expect to be prominent alongside Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen in the early going is Gillian Anderson.
