‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Bill Hader, Kenan Thompson reunite with comedy

SNL -It was only a year and a half ago that Bill Hader left “Saturday Night Live,” but the former cast member / personal favorite is coming back this weekend.

In the video, you can even find out a little of the energy and fun that Bill is bringing back to the table. Also, you get the show making fun of itself a little. Kenan Thompson specifically brings up all the black cast members and writers that have been brought on since he left the show, which includes Sasheer Zamata, Leslie Jones, and Michael Che.

This promo is pretty funny, but also very short. We hope that this is because Lorne Michaels and company chose to focus more of their attention on delivering the first excellent show of the entire season. So far, the programs have dragged at times when we wanted them to soar. Hopefully, this changes soon.

As for what we expect to see from Bill, we honestly don’t want that many repeats. Most of his finer highlights came when he completely shocked us, with the noticeable exception of Stefon. Even bringing that character back would be controversial. We feel like there may be a certain pressure to do so, but this would be his second appearance this year, which is a lot for a guy who isn’t even on the show anymore. Also, what would he really be able to do without Seth Meyers? We feel like him doing this bit with Michael Che or Colin Jost would not be the same.
