‘Bones’ season 10: David Boreanaz, Emily Deschanel reflect on John Francis Daley’s Sweets

Bones -On this past episode of “Bones,” the show aired one of its sadder moments, as the character of Lance Sweets was put to rest. He had a great run of over six seasons as a part of the cast, and became so much more than a therapist who helped Booth and Brennan work through their problems before the two were even together.

Just in case you are feeling a little bit nostalgic about the character this weekend, we feel like the videos below may be a nice way to look back. In these clips, both Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz each discuss what John Francis Daley brought to the role, and what Sweets meant individually for both of their characters.

For Brennan, Emily notes that one of the most interesting things that Sweets did for her was allow her to have an ally and a confidante when it comes to their shared past in the foster system. This is not something that many other characters could understand, regardless of how much they may have wanted to. This allowed the two to feel a little more at peace with everything that happened to them, even though Brennan rarely opened up.

Meanwhile, David looked back more on the character’s early years, and really talked about how if there was no Sweets, there may not have ever been a Booth and Brennan as a couple. His work helped to them understanding each other, which in turn helped them to get together, have a baby, and then eventually get married.
