‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Sarah Silverman, Taran Killam, and assorted silliness

More news -The next “Saturday Night Live” episode airs this weekend, and the show made what may be to some an interesting choice in host. Sarah Silverman was first on the show over two decades ago, and it was only for a short period of time when she was a Featured Player. It doesn’t even feel like she has any specific thing to promote.

So why bring her on? The only thing we can think of is that in the early going this season, “SNL” wants to make sure that they are stabilized, and they have a host who already has some significant comedy chops. Silverman will probably have a great opening monologue, and then will not be afraid to put herself in some embarrassing positions throughout the rest of the show.

Our major concern is whether or not “SNL” is really the best environment for a host who tends to push the envelope more than NBC will allow. The show could stand to push the envelope a little bit, though, and maybe Sarah will allow for that to happen.

One other thing that we’re hoping for is that Sarah’s presence will allow for the guys to have a little more of an active role in the show. Taran Killam is featured in this promo, and he was surprisingly quiet on this past edition of the show. The same goes for a personal favorite in Bobby Moynihan. On the ladies’ side, where was Kate McKinnon? It ultimately felt like we had an Aidy Bryant overload more than anything else.
