ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 4 spoilers: Prepare to see a different sort of surprise

“Scandal” is many things, from a commercial success story to a master class in good acting from a network TV show.

What we have also seen a few times now, though, is that this is a show that really likes to push the envelope when it comes to risque subject matter, in particular of a sexual nature. You’ve seen some of this play out a few times now, but some of the most shocking stuff may still be to come.

According to a new report coming in now via SpoilerTV, the upcoming fourth episode of this season is going to have one of the most “provocative” scenes that we have had a chance to witness over the years on network television. This could really mean a number of different things, but whatever ends up airing here is obviously something the network brass is comfortable with. They are the ones in control right now, after all, so they clearly have to be okay with whatever they are putting on the air right now.

Of course being “provocative” could mean many things, whether it be suggestive dialogue, a particularly race sex scene, or depictions of something violent. We always wonder with this sort of thing if there could be some complaints that come in, but when it comes to this show in particular, we have a hard time thinking that everyone affiliated is really going to care that much. One of the many reasons for that could just be that sometimes, controversy equals publicity.

We’ll just have to see what shakes out here.
