‘Longmire’ season 4 notes: Latest on renewal hopes, other cast appearances, more
Given that it has been a little bit of now since we’ve posted our last piece on the present state of “Longmire,” now feels like as good of a time as any to share some more of what we know.
Let’s start with the latest rumor: Is USA really “close” to picking up the show? This rumor was seemingly started in a post from Celebrity Dirty Laundry, and in checking around, we haven’t found anything to corroborate it. Do we feel like the network could be a good home for the show? Sure, and with much of its lineup floundering right now while other networks (see TNT) are flourishing, it could be a boost. We even wrote an article on it a while back. There are multiple parties out there that have been interested enough in the show to at least have discussions, but the only party that we can currently identify is Netflix (who already streams the show).
The right strategy here for all fans is still to continue the social-media stampedes, remind networks and providers that you’re still there, and let the powers-that-be try to sell the show. If it doesn’t happen, then you at least know everyone gave their best effort.
As for a few other stories – Just for those of you who want some more insight on the A&E cancellation from multiple parties, Zahn McClarnon (Mathias) gave an interview recently with Indian Country, and in it he basically agrees with most of what the media is saying about how money was likely the unfortunate nail in the coffin for this network:
“I wish I knew. I don’t know the inter-workings of the network but I’m sure it boils down to financials. What I read anyway—just like anybody else reads—A&E wanted to own more of the show, they wanted to make more money and their older demographic was not as desirable to them. They wanted a younger demographic to watch the show.”
Finally, we can still be happy for Adam Bartley! The man behind the Ferg posted earlier this week that he is guest-starring on an upcoming season 10 episode of “Bones.” That show in particular is going through a tough time; while they are still on the air, one of their (spoiler alert!) characters was killed off in the premiere.
We’ll hopefully have more to report soon, but for now head over here to get some further updates on all we cover via our CarterMatt Newsletter.

I really liked that show. It was so like where I live and the people I know. I hope Netflix takes it up. I watch via computer or Kindle anyway.Yes, my hair is gray but I still spend money – but not on anything A&E anymore. That was the ONLY good show they had!!!

Longmire is amazing and NEEDS to find a new home. I will NOT be watching any more A&E programming.

I really hope someone picks up this series before too long. There aren’t many shows that continue to hold my interest like Longmire has.

Long live Longmire! Amazing show and one of the few, very few quality productions on tv today with good scripts and plot lines. Sure hope someone else picks it up…. such as Netflix or Hulu or USA. Should have expected it after they dropped a great show such as The Glades and left us with a terrible cliffhanger! Makes TV shows not worth watching when you know a network will do that :-(.

Longmire is a great show! A & E is the stupid station. First they mess with Duck Dynasty than that mess with Longmire. I feel I do not want to watch any program on there network. The reason being they will cut it off for any reason. Both of these shows DD & Longmire had great a following and yet they messed with Phil and cancel Longmire?

Someone pick up this amazing show!!! Shame on A&E I have since cancelled them because they no longer have anything to offer and their ignorance towards the longmire fans.
