‘Once Upon a Time’ season 4 premiere spoilers: See Giancarlo Esposito’s return

If you love awesome actors, then it is hard to do anything other than smile about the latest “Once Upon a Time” sneak peek below. After all, this features the return of Giancarlo Esposito as Sidney Glass a.k.a. the Magic Mirror, who was a pretty important character from back in season 1.

So why bring him back now? The truth is that Sidney is almost the equivalent of a stooge for Regina, but a complicated one in that he is in love with her. His personal story is almost heartbreaking, if you go back and actually remember some of what it contained. He want to see this character move on and be happy, but it doesn’t seem like that is going to happen.

As for why Regina would bring him back, the easy guess is that it is tied in some way to the arrival of Maid Marian in Storybrooke. She is standing in the way of Regina’s new fairy-tale ending, and there is a little bit of irony here in watching Regina use Sidney more or less in an effort to ensure she can be with another man.

Still, he will probably oblige and try to help her, if for no other reason than that this is a man who really does not seem to know anything else that he should do with himself. He’s also been in prison for so long that he probably does not have any other pressing matters to attend to.
