‘The Good Wife’ season 6 spoilers: Can Alicia continue fighting hard for Cary?

The Good WifeWhen “The Good Wife” opened up the sixth season on Sunday, it did so with what was a pretty shocking revelation: Cary was in prison. Not only that, but he also was put in a compromising position here he may not be able to get out with the bail money provided.

So far, we have seen the character of Alicia (Julianna Margulies) do what she can to continue fighting the good fight for him, but there are some genuine questions about whether or not she will continue to do so. After all, this is a woman with a ton on her plate. She has her own business to run, a complicated personal life, and even a complicated campaign for state’s attorney to consider. All of these factors will come to a head … right? It certainly sounds like it, at least based on what co-creator Michelle King had to say in a new interview with TV Guide:

“What is especially appetizing about this is how it impacts Alicia … How does she show her loyalty to him and yet still protect her own interests? After all, she’s got a firm to run, she’s the wife of the governor and there is a question mark as to whether she should pursue becoming state’s attorney.”

We do see Alicia continuing to be an ally to Cary, but if it starts to appear more and more like he could be guilty to all those who surround him, could that lead to trouble for her? She’ll have to consider dialing back her support for the sake of protecting herself. This may not be particularly kind, but this is the world of Chicago politics. Sometimes, you have to do whatever you can to stay afloat.
