‘Big Brother 16’ finale review: Was Derrick Lavasseur or Cody Calafiore the winner?

Big Brother -Tonight, “Big Brother 16” has come to a conclusion, and while it took us a while to get to some of the meat of the show, we ultimately did with a great jury house segment that exposed a few things: Frankie’s not popular, Zach burned Dr. Will to his face, and that if Victoria got to the final two, she hilariously had a shot at winning the game.

Yes, we know that there were some competitions that played out before that, but let’s be honest here: You’ve already seen those at some point, or at least heard the results. It wasn’t until Cody won the final Head of Household that things got interest. We were hoping Derrick would win, mostly because of the possibility of getting Victoria in the final three.

Of course, Cody decided to take Derrick to the end, and apparently, he never watched “Survivor: Cagayan.” He and Woo could be friends!

The jury questions – Man, were these terrible and boring. Nobody really had anything that interesting to say, Derrick denied using his family for strategy (which he probably did), and Cody mostly just muttered through some responses. Derrick probably made the best point by making it clear that he was never nominated before final three, which at least has not been done with this many nominations plus the Battle of the Block. It has happened twice before in general, but no one ever made it to the final three without a nomination and won.

Also, major laughs for Zach admitting that he was voting for Derrick while he was casting it, which broke the rules. Zach plays be no rules! Jocasta seemed the most bitter, thinking that Derrick pretended to pray with her.

Secrets – Finally, they revealed the Team America alliance to everyone, and at least Zach got a good laugh at the fact that he was pretty much ruined by Frankie, Donny, and Derrick for the entirety of the game. Also, they revealed that Derrick was an undercover cop, which was his strategy from the get-go. All of this sets up for a Derrick win in the end.

The winner – Derrick is the champ! The vote was 7-2, with Jocasta and Donny being the only two who voted for Cody to win. The Donny one surprises us, given that Cody talked so much smack about him during the game.

America’s Favorite – We saw the Donny win coming. Zach may have won the Twitter vote, but don’t underestimate the casual fans.
