‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 16, episode 2 preview: What’s next for Mariska Hargitay, cast
Tonight, “Law & Order: SVU” returned to NBC with an episode entitled “Girls Disappeared,” which was all sorts of intense. Baby Noah was at risk, and of course Benson had to do just about everything in her power to make sure that the child and her would be safe moving forward. Not only that, but Amaro had some emotional moments in his new position on the force.
For the next episode, entitled “American Disgrace,” things are going to be a little bit different. This episode will explore the relationship between sports and sponsors, and the complications when an athlete is accused of rape. There is obvious a true-crime element to this with the Ray Rice headlines, but this episode could have a much different outcome.
What we can do for you right now is at least give you the official details, per NBC, all about what you can expect to take place:
“Basketball superstar Shakir “The Shark” Wilkins (guest star Henry Simmons) announces his partnership with the Orion Bay clothing line, owned by billionaire Orion Bauer (guest star Stacy Keach) and his daughter Cordelia (guest star Teri Polo). But the SVU intervenes when Orion press rep Carla Cannon (guest star Kelley Missal) tells reporters she was raped by Wilkins. When more women come forward, Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Detective Carisi (guest star Peter Scanavino) disagree on the authenticity of each woman’s story, and Barba (Raul Esparza) takes a shaky case to court. Meanwhile, the case takes Rollins (Kelli Giddish) to her former precinct in Atlanta, where ex-colleagues bring up old memories.”
Ultimately, this episode should be a reminder of the show that you have watched for so many years, but with a little bit of something different thanks to the Rollins storyline.

This isn’t related to Ray Rice headlines. It’s about Jameis Winston raping a girl, the police burying the report and botching the investigation, and the university backing him.
