‘Ink Master: Rivals’ exclusive: Tim Lees on Dave Navarro, Cleen Rock One, and fan support

This season of “Ink Master: Rivals” has a lot of very experienced artists on the show: Maybe even more then any other season, but we’ve seen some of these artists leave the show surprisingly early showing us that this is really anyone’s game to win.

One of the more seasoned artists that we recently lost was Tim Lees, who has over 17 years experience in the tattoo industry. He revealed on the show that he had to over come a lot of struggles and roadblocks to get to where he is today and that was something that made Tim someone who was easy for fans to root for. We had a chance to chat with Tim about his time on the show, his rivalry with Cleen Rock One and how thankful he is to everyone who supported him through out this process.

CarterMatt: You have a lot of tattoo experience and we were surprised to see you go so early: If you had it to do all over again is there anything you would do differently?

Tim Lees: Yes I do have a lot of experience and at the end of the day I was just as shocked as you and yes absolutely there’s a lot of things I would do differently. On another note, I would like to thank each and every person that made this opportunity possible and at the same time I would like to thank all of my friends, family, clients, and fans for all the love and support and just taking a look at what I really love to do!!

Now that you are out of the competition, is there any artist left that you are rooting for?

Yes at this point for all intensive purposes I would love to see Jason Clay Dunn kill it!

How is your rivalry with Cleen Rock One now that some time has passed? Are you two on better terms?

I can definitely say that Cleen and I are on better terms with a better respect and understanding of each other, but that doesn’t mean that we’re going to agree or that we should work together.

The judges seem to have more focused critiques this season: Did you find their feed back helpful and which judge did you find to have the best critiques?

Yes, I did find some of the critiques helpful, and I appreciate the seriousness of Oliver’s critiques, and our host Mr. Dave Navarro was a lot more down-to-earth than expected.

If clients want to book you for a tattoo, how can they go about doing that?
