‘Under the Dome’ season 2 finale review: Who died, and what’s that white light?

While many shows were beginning on Monday night, CBS opted to end “Under the Dome” on such a crazy note,  we have no idea where in the world things are going to go from here.

First of all, who died? We can at least confirm that Pauline (who we though was gone last week) and Rebecca are both gone. Jim’s wife asked Rebecca to kill her, and Rebecca went through with it. This did not make Big Jim so pleased, and then he took out the hammer. This had to be the worst death with a household object since Gemma took out Tara with a fork.

While all of this was going on, the remaining residents of Chester’s Mill were all on a crazy expedition to get down into the tunnel, which was mostly met with bizarre / interesting results. They found Melanie down there, ready to beckon them into some new white-light-world where they may just end up meeting Jack and John Locke at the church. This doesn’t look good for any of them … unless the show gets renewed, of course. They are not going to kill off nearly the entire cast.

The three who did not get to the end of the tunnel are Julia, Junior, and Big Jim, who are also three important faces. We’re assuming that Julia and Junior are going to be fine thanks to their own escape plan, whereas Jim may be crushed by the dome.

So we have no real idea how the show plans on tying all of this up, since they make around a million or so open ends. If this marks the end of the road for the show, what an insane one it is. At least the show went all-out tonight rather than just coming up with something half-hearted. Grade: B-.
