TNT’s ‘Dallas’ season 3 finale review: Which Ewing family member died?
Going into tonight’s season 3 finale of “Dallas,” we knew that there was going to be at least one character who didn’t make it out alive, and that this said character was going to be a member of the notorious Ewing family.
Well, we know now just who that character was, and it was certainly a surprising end. Christopher (Jesse Metcalfe) was killed via car bomb during the two hours. We cannot say we were that surprised after seeing some of the episode play out, though we still feel like if the show wanted to truly shock us, they would have made an even bigger move and taken out a longtime main character rather than just someone from the past few seasons.
In a bizarre way, we may actually have a new Ewing even while we lost one, as we learned that John Ross has a long-lost sibling out there, and that should make for an interesting story if there is an opportunity to do so.
There were many other surprises throughout the night, including shootings and Elena realizing that she was pregnant with Nicolas’ kid, but we know that the explosion in the closing seconds will get the most attention, even more so than John Ross doing anything possible (including actually working with Pamela for a change) to ensure that Ewing Global stayed under his control. (We feel like the work politics is at times when the show is at its best.)
If this marks the end of the road for the show, at least fans can rejoice that the writers and producers put a ton into this. If there is more to come … well, we’ll just have to wait and see how they would top this. Grade: B+.

I’m sorry they killed off Christopher. He was the yin to John Ross’ yang. Reflecting on the episodes of the original Dallas, it’s very likely that Christopher isn’t dead. Maybe he was kidnapped and someone from the cartel was taking his car. I’m sure John Ross will end up being the baby daddy, but she will probably miscarry. It will be interesting to see who John Ross’ sister is and to see Luke show up. I love this show and don’t want to see it end, especially like this!

I liked Christopher. Never thought they’d kill him off. He’s hot and he’s the only really nice guy in the family. I’ve been following Dallas since the very beginning. Kill off somebody who is cheating and conniving like the rest of them.

Yes killing off ELENA would make more sense except we know that baby is NOT Nicolas but John Ross !! I don’t think Christopher is dead either. Great finale though!!

Fans will not be happy if this is how the show ends. Look people, DALLAS is one of, if not, the best drama in American history, and not matter what the show deserves a proper send off. If you want to send it off, plan that before the season and write it out in a thoughtful and planned manner. As far as killing an original character Cartermatt – are you kidding? Cynthia Cidre just interview by Entertainment Weekly was asked that question, and her response “with the longtime fans of this show, had I killed off Bobby or Sue Ellen, someone certainly would have killed me”…YUP (nodding head up and down).
This “should” be TNTs plan. Renew for Season 4, BUT…inform Cidre that Season 5 won’t happen unless the ratings improve at least to what they were during Season 2 (2.5 million -live)…so design the 2nd half of the season with alternate endings – one that carries us into Season 5, and one that possibly wraps up the show. That is exactly what should be done.

Christopher Ewing is a long time original character! He is the adopted son of Bobby and Pamela Ewing, the nephew of Sue Ellen and 1st cousin of John Ross. His mother Kristen Shepard was the one who famously shot J.R and was also Sue Ellen’s sister. This is a shocker to those of us who have seen the original series that they would do away with Christopher.. But this may pave the way for the arrival of Bobby’s biological son Lucas who he had with his old flame Jenna Wade. Lucas was last seen as a baby on the original series and left Dallas with his mother and Ray Krebbs who were going to raise him as their own son.

I wish they would have killed off Elena instead. But the show did not disappoint. Lets not forget she did also sleep with John Ross.

They just killed off one of the reasons why I watch the new Dallas. So, I won’t worry about if there is a season 4 because I will NOT be watching.

Well there have been rumors if Dallas returns for a 4th season that Lucas may finally return to Dallas. I hope that is true because I want to see him face Bobby and ask why he gave his biological son without a fight.
