‘South Park’ season 18 premiere begins with mockery at NFL, Washington franchise

At this point, “South Park” could probably just make an entire season of programming that was almost entirely geared around poking fun at the NFL. After all, it would even make a heck of a lot of sense when you think about it. In between the Ray Rice scandal and drug policy, the league deserves more than just a brutal mocking from Cartman and company.

For Wednesday’s season 18 premiere, though, the show seems to be geared more around one particular slice of controversy pertaining to the show: The handling of the Washington football franchise over its controversial name. You can see a sneak peek for the upcoming episode below, and it includes a dialogue between Cartman and Washington owner Dan Snyder that is probably going to get way more insane than this clip has the time to show off.

Will the show get more controversial from here on out? Probably, but one of the pop-culture joys of this show is that you really have no idea where they are going to go even during their premiere. They have such a short production window that they can parody and mock things that are happening mere days before an episode airs, which is why we have hope that this discussion with Snyder is really just the tip of the NFL iceberg.

Now, we just have to wonder how long this show is going to last. After all, we personally thought that “South Park” would have had a smaller shelf life than this.
