‘Survivor: San Juan del Sur’ castaway spotlight: Is Dale Wentworth the ultimate underdog?

Dale -If you read our “Survivor: San Juan del Sur” predictions article from earlier this weekend, then you will know already that we really like Dale Wentworth’s shot in the game. He may be a major underdog thanks to him being one of the oldest people on this season, but sometimes these people can pull out a victory.

So with this article in particular, we’re going to try to describe why we feel like Dale has a very good chance to make it far in this game, even despite of some of the limitations that he does have.

Name – Dale Wentworth

Age – 55

Location – Ephrata, Washington

Occupation – Farmer

Strengths – The biggest thing from the get-go is that he is going to bring resourcefulness to camp life. He’ll know how to prepare food, how to make shelter, and how to really make the most of his surroundings. In addition to that, he seems to be a super-big fan of the show, and will probably use that to his advantage when it comes to alliances and outsmarting the stronger physical players.

Weaknesses – He could be a weak player in challenges, even if we expect him to never give up. Also, he admits that being on a farm with just a few people most of his life limits his social skills, but we would argue that just that sort of self-awareness is a step in the right direction.

Past “Survivor” comparison – He says Big Tom, but we’d go a season earlier and say Rodger, who we felt was a pretty good player. If you combined Rodger with maybe a little of Tom Westman’s social game around camp, you may have Dale in a nutshell.

Prediction – He could go very early just because of his age, but if he can survive the first few weeks, he’s going deep in the game. He’s not going to make himself a threat, but more than that he knows the game and he will put himself consistently in situations that can benefit him in the long-run.
