‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 6 spoilers: A big goal for Ian Somerhalder’s Damon

Is there still hope for Damon / Elena on “The Vampire Diaries“? We would think that so long as this show is on the air, there is probably always going to be hope for these two. They are the show’s principal couple, and you can also add to that the fact that they are extremely popular with fans.

So even though Ian Somerhalder’s character may be “dead,” he is still going to do just about everything in his power in order to work his way back from wherever-he-is to Whitmore College. This is precisely what executive producer Julie Plec said in a new interview with E! News:

“Damon’s singular goal is to get back to Elena and his brother—but that doesn’t make it any easier to escape from the mysterious place that currently imprisons him.”

Damon is a very determined guy, and it is thanks to this that we personally feel like there is basically zero reason to doubt his ability to return at all. The only thing you still have to wonder about is whether or not he can actually maintain a relationship with Elena even when he is out. There were times when it felt like he and Nina Dobrev’s character were just destined to walk down the aisle, but then there were moments of constant fighting. They are extremely hot and cold as far as being a committed couple goes, and that can create a ton of trouble!

The new season of “The Vampire Diaries” premieres on Monday, October 2, and we will have further news soon.
