‘Teen Wolf’ season 4, episode 12 (finale) spoilers: Is Tyler Hoechlin’s Derek ready to die?

“Teen Wolf” has a nasty habit of throwing our heart into various palpitations anytime we get near a big episode of the show, and that is exactly how we are feeling right now about the upcoming season 4 finale. We’re very worried about losing another one of the show’s most-beloved characters, and this time around, that person is none other that Derek.

This season alone has been an insane journey for him, starting with Kate Argent sapping away most of his power and basically turning him into a childhood version of himself. Tyler Hoechlin was eventually able to step back fully into his role, but there are still problems with his character, as he feels more and more like he is starting to wither away.

In the sneak peek video below, all of this hits a peak when he tells Braeden that he almost expects to die in the midst of the mission to save Scott and Kira in Mexico. She certainly does not want to hear it, but this is a reality that the two must confront if they want to go in there and be successful in the end.

The part of this that we imagine being even more confusing for any fan is trying to figure out what they big takeaway here is. From one vantage point, you would hope for this to be a red herring, that Derek is not going to ultimately die. But what happens if this is a red herring for a red herring? That’s why we are worried.
