‘The Amazing Race: Australia vs. New Zealand’ episode 7 preview: Trouble for the Aussies?

The past two weeks on “The Amazing Race: Australia vs. New Zealand” have been pretty frigid for all of the contestants. This happens, after all, when the show ships you to somewhere as cold as Russia.

Luckily, the remaining five teams can start to breathe a little bit easier now thanks to their next destination: Lisbon, Portugal! While they may still run into some language barriers, we would imagine there to be more English-speakers there than a smaller city in Russia, and that there would also probably be a much more appealing climate.

What may be a surprise, though, are the total number of Australian teams in jeopardy. In theory, you would think that they would be built to handle all of these conditions without a problem given that they are the most athletic teams left without question. You’ve got bodybuilders, a fit married couple, and then some doctors who had the guts to not use the Salvage Pass on John & Murray, who were surprisingly okay with it. Yet, they will struggle with everything from challenges to communication with one another. (Ashleigh & Jarrod, per the episode’s official preview, may especially be in trouble.)

So where does this leave the Kiwi teams? Hopefully feeling pretty good about themselves. Cat & Jesse are still the ultimate underdogs of this race, mostly in that they’ve managed to get all the way into the top five despite looking dead in the water a few times. We still have a hard time calling them as the winners, but even being in the finale for them would be a victory.
