‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ star NeNe Leakes off to Broadway

While we didn’t expect to see this story today, we’re actually not too surprised with the news at all: NeNe Leakes is off to Broadway.

It has been announced now that the “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” who has also done stints on both “Glee” and “The New Normal,” will be replacing Sherri Shepherd in the role of the evil stepmother in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” from November 25 until January 3. This gives her a lengthy chunk of time to hone her chops on the big stage in one of the most memorable roles out there.

Do we like the gig? We’re at least intrigued by it. NeNe was pretty funny in both of her scripted TV appearances we mentioned above, and we were wondering when she was going to get another acting gig. We understand that so many people love her on the Bravo show, and we certainly understand why she’d want to keep doing it financially. With that being said, we prefer her other stuff at this point because they don’t feel like she is constantly about to be attacked or get involved in some sort of heated argument. So much of the Bravo franchise at this point is littered with constant fighting.

We’ll just have to wait and see what the reviews are in this case, but let’s just hope that it is something that Leakes can use to propel into something else.

In addition to the scripted shows, some of NeNe’s other recent reality headlines include a stint on “Dancing with the Stars,” and also a gig on “The Celebrity Apprentice” years ago.
