‘The Blacklist’ season 2 spoilers: An emotional connection to Raymond Reddington?

The Blacklist logo any seasonWe know that the subject matter in the title of this “Blacklist” article is something that may be hard to even imagine, given that we’ve rarely seen Raymond Reddington emotional around anyone. While we’ve come to know that he has an attachment to Elizabeth Keen, she doesn’t make him appear broken-down or accessible in any way. He just uses her to accomplish his goals, while trying to protect her at the same time.

Well, we could be seeing something a little bit different from Naomi, the new face in the world of the NBC hit played by Mary-Louise Parker of “Weeds.” We know that she and Red do share a past, and per executive producer Jon Bokenkamp (per TVLine), “she’s someone Red cares about deeply and who will make him vulnerable.”

What does this mean? It’s possible a number of different things. It could mean that she is someone who actually brings out the emotion in Red that nobody else can do thanks to a lengthy personal history, or maybe they are soul mates in some bizarre way. We know that the conventional theory here is that Naomi is Liz’s mother just as the theory was that Red was Liz’s father. We wouldn’t be too upset if the former was true, given that it hasn’t been hyped to the ends of the earth. But the latter? Well, we really hope by some estimation that the producers are setting up a different sort of reveal here.

Does hearing all of this about Naomi make you more intrigued about the story for “The Blacklist”? Let us know in the comments.
