‘MasterChef’ season 5, episode 15 review: Did Courtney, Jaimee, or Christian leave before top 5?

MasterChef -Tonight’s “MasterChef” episode was certainly surprising, but we really say that now when it comes to what happened during the Team Challenge above all else. Basically, we saw one where Leslie actually managed to win!

In a way, this is probably the dodgiest victory ever for the man, given that we imagine he and Cutter would still be yelling at each other had Chef Ramsay not stepped in. Then again, he has helped struggling cooks on this show before to turn things around mid-challenge, so this is probably no different. The reality is that somehow, this guy manages to find success through panicking, and that’s why he and Jaimee were the team captains to begin with.

The problem for Jaimee here, unfortunately, was that she struggled to be the leader, and so did Courtney. Maybe all these changes in leadership are what doomed their team. The three were stuck in a Pressure Test constructing a French pastry dessert called croquembouche that we would not have been able to spell without Google at our side.

This was by far one of the toughest challenges, and we actually couldn’t call it since we heard so much about Jaimee and Christian’s backstory this episode. Did we even hear about his kind before tonight? This is usually a sign of someone going home. The moment that Courtney nailed this, we knew that she was going to be safe. This narrowed the field down to two people, and despite the fact that Jaimee had actually made this before, she struggled so much that she couldn’t separate any individual pastry.

The moment the reviews came in, it was obvious that Jaimee was going. Are we sad? Definitely, mostly because she seemed to be one of the nicest people there. We don’t think that she should ever run a kitchen, but she could be a great caterer or bakery shop owner at some point.

So what’s the biggest surprise now? Probably that Leslie and Cutter are still there, since we never would have called that at the start of the season. We are at least very excited about what the top 5 will bring in terms of entertainment. Grade: B+.
