‘The Walking Dead’ season 5 spoilers: Danai Gurira on Michonne’s inner struggle
Every character on “The Walking Dead” has a story to tell, and for the Michonne character, this said story is going to be one of the most emotional out of any that you are going to see.
Speaking out in a new interview on Entertainment Weekly, Danai Gurira discussed some of the adapting she did in the fourth season, which involved letting down some of the walls around her as we learned about her past. However, her getting close to Carl and starting to feel accepted is not going to turn around who she is, or who she has been since the start of the zombie apocalypse, overnight:
“She does yearn for something more stable in life … She really believes that Carl needs something more stable than where they are and what they have been experiencing, but also she’s very committed to what has to be done. She’s a woman who does what has to be done, so that involves a lot of ferocity.”
In other words, expect balance. Those of you who liked the awesome Michonne of the past few seasons should probably expect that badass side to be there as the group eventually leaves Terminus and heads for Washington DC. However, don’t expect vulnerable Michonne to be abandoned here, either. The show would not have spent all that time familiarizing you with that part of the character to suddenly abandon her down the road.
