‘NCIS’ season 12 spoilers: See Mark Harmon, cast in new promo

With the “NCIS” season 12 premiere coming up on Tuesday, September 23, the good news is that we’re finally close enough to the show airing that some new footage is coming out.

In the brand-new preview below via CBS, for example, what you really get is a reminder of one primary thing: How much trouble Gibbs, McGee, and many other team members are in almost right away. You could almost entitled this episode “Survivor: NCIS” if you really wanted to, thanks mostly to just how intense everything really seems here from start to finish.

There are going to be many episodes coming up that prioritize softer moments among the team members, and teach us more about the characters we’ve come to know and love over the years. However, this does not appear to be one of those episodes. Instead, the name of the game here is more along the lines of intensity, and trying to make the show as action-packaged and exciting as possible while also introducing a villain that you will be seeing a whole lot of in the months ahead … at least in theory. The “NCIS” way is that you bring in a villain, and then they appear sporadically over time while you tackle a number of other isolated stories in the process. It’s pretty impossible for this show to ever be a full-fledged serial thanks to syndication and its structure put into place already.

Hopefully, what we’ll have soon are some further surprises, especially when it comes to either cast members or story twists that could be coming up.
