‘Boardwalk Empire’ season 5: Catch up now with extended recap

“Boardwalk Empire” will return to HBO with new episodes starting a week from Sunday, but if you enjoy the series, take some relief in knowing that you don’t have to go and binge-watch everything in order to catch up.

Below, the network has unveiled a new, nine-minute video that really details some of the big events that happened on the show over the course of the past few years. Obviously, this is not going to give you the full scope of Nucky Thomspson’s journey, just because it’s impossible to expect that anything would that is such a fraction of the show.

When the show does pick back up, what you can expect is one incredible last ride for Steve Buscemi. In the present, Nucky will find himself in the early 1930s. The era of Prohibition is coming to a close, and this is going to allow Cullen an opportunity to really look ahead to potentially operating a business more within the bounds of the law.

However, this is a man who has quite a history, and this past will almost definitely come back to haunt him. Ironically, though, this is not the sort of thing that the show will spend its time flashing back to. Instead, expect to see some flashbacks to Nucky’s childhood in New Jersey, and how this guy eventually started down the road that turned him into the ruthless man that we come to know at the end of the series.
