TV Quick Hits: ‘Utopia’ live feed; Jennifer Aniston – ‘Friends’ reunion defense; more ‘Simpsons’
“Utopia” goes live – We are very intrigued about Fox’s upcoming “Utopia,” even though we still have little to no idea what to make of it just yet. You’ve got 14 complete strangers from completely different walks of life starting a new civilization. There’s no cash prize and no defined real goal, at least beyond just the contestants trying to formulate the ideal civilization for themselves.
Fox’s site and the official live stream for the show are each now live, and you can check them out right now. It’s a fascinating watch since it’s really all about survival, but it’s probably not for any strategy buffs out there.
The series premieres on Fox a week from Sunday, where it will capitalize heavily on an NFL lead-in.
Jimmy Kimmel on “Friends” reunion spoof – Earlier this week, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” aired what seemed to be a silly and very-innocent video where it seemed like Jennifer Aniston was “forced” against her will into a “Friends” reunion.
Somehow, viewers actually believed that this was not some bit she was prepared for, and that Kimmel has zero history whatsoever when it comes to surprising people with various twists. In the new video below, Jimmy does his part to explain himself for the video, and also make it clear yet AGAIN that this was all done for laughs.
FXX loves “The Simpsons” – Just in case you were wondering, this is basically going to be the Simpsons Network even after the marathon comes to a close. Basically, come September 2 the show will air on Mondays from 6 p.m. to midnight, Tuesdays from 8 p.m. until midnight, Thursdays from 8 p.m. to midnight, Fridays from 6 p.m. until midnight, and Sundays from 4 to 8 p.m. In other words, this show will almost never be off the air!
