‘True Blood’ series finale: Could there be a spin-off on Alexander Skarsgard’s Eric?
This happens at around the time of every series finale, even the ones that are largely considered to be not nearly as good: Talk about whether or not a spin-off series could happen at some point in the future. It happened with “Dexter,” and “How I Met Your Mother” almost had a companion series on CBS this fall.
So could there really be one for “True Blood”? At the moment, it seems very unlikely given where all of the characters ended up. Showrunner Brian Buckner took part in a conference call following the finale, and he did say that story-wise, “there is life in Eric and Pam running a multinational corporation.”
Does this mean that this is even being remotely considered? Hardly. He was merely asked about spin-off possibilities, and this is what he came up with off of the top of his head. Alexander Skarsgard is already so busy that they had a hard time even knowing if Eric would be around for the final episodes of the season thanks to his work on “Tarzan.” How do they expect to get him here? The reality is that “True Blood” is almost certainly going to be buried, and HBO will move on to other things.
What we will at least say about Eric and Pam is that they were the MVPs of the final season, and this is probably the only “True Blood” spin-off we’d be interested in just because of Alex and Kristin Bauer van Straten’s great chemistry with each other. We at least want to think of them as friends for a long time.
