‘Hell on Wheels’ season 4, episode 4 reaction: Mackenzie Porter, Anson Mount on Cullen, Naomi

What's next? -Last night, “Hell on Wheels” aired an episode that was lighter on the shocking moments, but very much heavy when it came to personal relationships.

Take, for example, the latest development in the lives of Cullen and Naomi. The two got out of Fort Smith with this big ambition of having a new life together in a promising community, but all of this changed very quickly as soon as Naomi realized that the Cheyenne Cullen is not the same as the Fort Smith version. Here, he is back with his first love in the railroad, and that is unsurprisingly where he is spending the majority of his time right now.

In the reaction video below, Mackenzie Porter discusses how Naomi sees her relationship already starting to crumble; Cullen could not even fulfill his promise to take her to church, where she could actually be accepted more as part of the community rather than some runaway Mormon chastised earlier in the episode by Ruth. She’s consistently an outlier, and she doesn’t have the support of anyone.

From Cullen’s standpoint, Anson Mount describes how this is a very new situation and struggle for this character. He is not used to actually having to be a family man and hasn’t been for many years, so neglecting his wife is something that tends to slip from his mind as he tries more to focus on other matters.

The one thing to remember here is that the marriage is not necessarily over just yet; after all, where can Naomi really go? Fort Smith is currently on the verge of eruption thanks to The Swede being found out as something other than a Bishop.
