‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 2 spoilers: The impact of Lucy Lawless
What role is Lucy Lawless going to ultimately play on “Agents of SHIELD” season 2? This is ultimately a question that many have wondered, even if they know the character named to be Isabelle Hartley.
Well, allow us to stoke that fire a little bit more now when it comes to scoop on the character. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, show executive producer Melissa Tancharoen confirms that Hartley does have a past with Clark Gregg’s leading man of Agent Coulson, but it is not of a romantic nature. There is something else between the two of them that will most likely become clear over time.
As for one other interesting piece of information to note, it doesn’t sound exactly like Hartley is necessarily fighting for the good guys when the show returns. Just take a look at Jed Whedon’s comment:
“When we meet her, she might not necessarily be on the right side of things.”
As much as we want to say “Hail Hydra” here in response to this, we don’t think we’re dipping back into that well again. What we will get from Lawless’ character is something that is at least most likely new to the TV franchise, though it may be very well rooted in the comics. That’s the great thing that comes with having countless decades of material out there to pull from; your options are pretty limitless when it comes to stories to tell. Even if you want to go for something completely original, you can still look to them as inspiration.
