‘Enlisted’ season 2 officially dead; Yahoo passes on renewing show
Sad news for all of those (us included) who loved Fox’s “Enlisted“: Yahoo has decided that they will not be pulling two miracles in one summer.
After previously deciding to renew “Community” for a sixth season, the streaming Yahoo Screen service has decided to pass on the comedy. With there being no other suitors out there, this means that the show is basically dead and won’t be coming bad.
This sort of thing is rather disheartening, but it is just what happens in the world of TV sometimes. You get a show that has a diehard following, but just never had the promotion that it really needed to be a success. “Enlisted” started off in a terrible Friday-night timeslot, and really never a got a shot to shine somewhere that people could actually find it. The final episodes were burned off on a Sunday night before the official start of primetime, and the ratings were never very good. The reason why we were less optimistic here than “Community’ is that the Joel McHale comedy had a proven following that was at least larger than the “Enlisted” crowd, and many of them use all forms of the internet already.
While this likely means the end of the road for this show, hopefully creator Kevin Biegel will get a chance to get some other shows on the air at some point in the near future where these same actors can come back. What they had this time around is pretty magical, and while they should be sad about this news, they can take pride in the work that they did.
