‘Sons of Anarchy’ season 7 spoilers: Who will be haunted the most by Tara?
Come September 9, “Sons of Anarchy” is going to be returning to FX with new episodes, and to go along with that are going to be a variety of questions about what the future will hold for some of the characters.
But for some of them, the future is going to very much be the past … at least in trying to process some of what happened with Tara. Will Jax be haunted by his late wife as the story progresses? In some ways, sure … but not in a way where we will start to see Maggie Siff popping up on the show again. Speaking to TVLine in a new interview, executive producer Kurt Sutter does his best to explain why:
“I’ve never done flashbacks or dream sequences on this show. They tend to pull me out of the reality of a show like this. Although The Sopranos used them very effectively with Tony, it doesn’t make sense for Jax to experience that.”
Instead of seeing Charlie Hunnam’s character as the one who is struggling the most to deal with moving forward, it may actually instead be Katey Sagal’s Gemma. As Sutter describes it, she “has this odd, remorse-[driven] dialogue with Tara throughout the season … as if she’s sitting right there next to her.”
How long will Gemma be able to keep her actions a secret? That is one of the central questions of the new season at the moment. The longer that she is able to hide this information, the longer that she is safe; conversely, the problem she may run into here is that the longer that she hides this information, the more painful it will be if Jax finds out about it.
