‘NCIS’ season 12 spoilers: Is this the love interest for Michael Weatherly’s Tony?
Has “NCIS” just cast the potential love interest for Agent DiNozzo? While there is no confirmation on that just yet, signs are definitely pointing in that direction.
For the time being, let’s go ahead and tell you what we know. According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, “Revenge” alum Stephanie Jacobsen has signed up already for a potentially-recurring role on the show. Her role is FBI Special Agent Leia Pendergast, and she will partner with Michael Weatherly’s character as the two work on a case that involves terrorist and a threat to researchers within the United States Navy.
Want to know more? Well, the character’s official description makes it clear that she is available for a romance:
“Armed but feminine, sexy and single, cool and confident. A former U.S. Marshal-turned FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force leader, she is flirtatious and adventurous with a sense of humor. Leia is a straight shooter, brash when she needs to be. She isn’t afraid to knock down doors or egos.”
The one thing that we will say for now is that we do feel for Jacobsen. Given the love of the Tony / Ziva pairing that is out there, this cannot be the easiest situation to walk into with those expectations. Personally, we just hope that this story is entertaining, and we’ll just watch and see where the story goes. Plus, it’s not like this casting is really going to dictate whether or not Cote de Pablo ever comes back on the show. We’ve already discussed that plenty over here.
The new season of “NCIS” will premiere on CBS Tuesday, September 23, but we will have some more updates on it before that time. Stay tuned! Also, click here if you want to get some additional scoop on all we cover now via our CarterMatt Newsletter.

I’ll pass on this one! The only purpose of this love interest is to get rid of complaining Ziva/TIVA fans!
I am not interested in another version of Ziva!
Tony can be single! If Ziva doesn’t return Glasberg could concentrate on action on the job not a useless soap opera romance!
One disliked character on NCIS should be enough!

I hope that it’s a great story too and the writers are serious about giving Tony more attention than casserole baking and bubble bath taking this season. Although the writers gave tiva fans a kiss after CdP abruptly quit the series, theirs was no great romance. Ziva treated Tony as an inferior and the majority of time insulted, disrespected, and demeaned him. I certainly hope that tptb don’t give us this formula again and try to call it a romance. As a Tony fan, I would really like to see tptb give him a story that actually flatters him instead of humiliating him for a change. Fingers crossed that this will be more that the usual Tony spoiler that amounts to some insignificant C plot that is never revisited again.

She’s already got similarites to Tony apart from being a flirt. She’s also from a preveious law enforcement job also back in the ‘Kate Years’ Tony used to be brash to an extent.

Tony in a storyline that shows him as strong and competent instead of oafish? One can only hope we’ll see more of that now that he’s no longer pining for Ziva. I do wonder whether MH is going to be stepping back from the front burner somewhat this year with his NCIS-NOLA responsibilities. While I love Mark, I would also dearly love to see MW take the lead a bit more. God knows he’s capable of delivering more than he’s been given. Episodes like “The Admiral’s Daughter” and “Once a Crook” have been too few and far between.

Ziva never humiliated Tony but Gibbs and Bishop did that all the time in season 11!

Really? So when she said to Tony, after he told her what his ideal woman was, “but why would she be interested in you?” that wasn’t humiliating. When she called him “deadweight” and told Gibbs that he shouldn’t be sent to South America with her, that wasn’t humiliating? When she flirted with his father to get a rise out of him, that wasn’t humiliating? There are many examples of her humiliating him. On the other hand, Bishop has respected his place in the chain of command and indicated an interest in learning from him now that she is a probie.

I took a look at other shows she has been in and she looks quite capable as long as they don’t try to push her on the fans too fast (like they did with Bishop) and just see how things develop. Also the show seems to be rounding up interesting guest stars NFL Tony Gonzalez and back stories for the cast like Ducky. I hope it is an improvement over last season. Remains to be seen if all of these things help the team to get their rhythm back and take the focus off of Bishop. The first few episodes will tell the tale. Hope it works.
