TV Quick Hits: ‘Kate Plus 8’ returns; New Keanu Reeves series; Tina Fey show passed over
Sad news for Tina Fey – It appears as though you will not be seeing Tina Fey’s “Cabot College” series ever come to fruition … at least on Fox. The show, executive-produced by the “30 Rock” star and her longtime collaborator Robert Carlock, has been officially passed over.
The biggest surprise here to us is that this show was originally given an order right to series back when Kevin Reilly was in charge of the network … but times changed. Fey was not meant to star on the show, but we still liked the premise of a women’s college that started accepting men for the first time.
More “Kate Plus 8” – You may not have asked for more of Kate Gosselin, but you are getting it anyway. After a special that aired earlier this year, the TLC show will return at the end of the year with some “additional episodes.”
What is the appeal of the show at this point? It may sound crazy, but it has to be the trainwreck factor and all of the fighting. The same thing that many dislike the series for also happens to be the same thing that keeps it on the air.
Keanu Reeves coming to TV? – In what sounds like a show that would star Keanu Reeves, Deadline reports that Reeves is set to star and executive-produce “Rain,” which will be about a half-Japanese assassin who has a hard time forming solid relationships because of his job. Yes, we do worry about this being exceptionally cheesy, but hey, we’ll give it the benefit of the doubt. It could still be plenty of fun.
This would be the first TV show to exclusively star Reeves, and there is no network firmly attached just yet.
