‘Longmire’ season 4 debate: The future for Henry Standing Bear
Last week, we introduced what is going to be a weekly CarterMatt series, at least until we know whether or not “Longmire” will be returning for another season: What is coming up for some of the characters? We try to put on our best detective cap, and plot out some of the possible scenarios.
Last week, the subject at hand is what could happen for Katee Sackhoff’s character of Vic. Today, we’re going in a different direction with Lou Diamond Phillips’ Henry Standing Bear. This is a guy who spend most of season 3 either imprisoned or in fear of being imprisoned, and thanks to that, it is pretty easy to say that this is a guy most in need of a break moving ahead. At least the charges against him were dropped.
With all of this being said, there is still one important question we want to know: What’s in the jar? We aren’t going to make the entire article about that, but it is something that we are currently pondering. Instead, let’s map out a few possible scenarios for what Henry could be up to moving forward.
1. Henry rebuilds the Red Pony – After the fire at the end of last season, coupled with his newfound freedom, this would at least give him something productive. Plus, we feel like the establishment is a necessary locale for the series; where else are all of these people going to relax?
2. Henry gets a new love interest – We do think there is story to be mined from seeing Henry with someone new, and also someone who completely different culturally from himself. This is not a show that often emphasizes romance, either, and that could make it all the more effective.
3. Henry becomes even more essential to Walt – We liked the buddy-cop antics of the two in the finale. Why not go more in that direction and have Henry consult more?
4. Henry goes down a dark path – Who knows? After all that he went through last season, it wouldn’t surprise us. It’s just probably not what we want given that we’d like to see the character happy.

I could be wrong but I think that inside that jar are requests for Hector from his people and Henry will try to fulfill them.

Henry and Walt are great together!–Not much of that this season and missed it.–However, I do think Henry will “take over” for Hector. He’s not going to beat anybody up—he will attempt to solve the problems Native Americans contacted Hector about using his brain instead of brawn–and of course-Walt!

I think that yes, Henry reopens the Red Pony. I think he’ll find romance again, but NOT someone of a different culture…How about the character played by Nia Peeples? Or the character May Stillwater, who so passionately and effectively testified on Henry’s behalf? And I believe he’ll try to fill the void left by Hector’s death, that’s why he took the jar that was used by people to communicate with Hector. The jar contained notes asking for Hector’s help.
