‘Better Call Saul’ spoilers: First teaser hints at premiere date and more

Better Call Saul season 1Want to know when “Better Call Saul” will be returning to the air? We now at least can give you one little detail: February. This was confirmed in the latest teaser released by AMC on Sunday night, which featured Bob Odenkirk’s character at a young age explaining the importance of having a super-fantastic lawyer on your side.

There’s not a lot to say about the content portion of the teaser given how short it is, other than of course to say that it looks amazing and is exactly what we’d hoped (for now). As for the premiere date, it’s interesting for a number of different reasons.

  1. We imagine that “February” really just means “the first Sunday after the Super Bowl,” and this will probably premiere the same night that “The Walking Dead” returns with the second half of the season.
  2. What time are you going to air the show? We’d almost campaign to put it on at 8:00 p.m. Eastern, that way you have “The Walking Dead” and then “Talking Dead” right after it. You don’t want to hurt the Chris Hardwick talk show by putting it on an hour after the flagship airs, and we don’t think that “Better Call Saul” really needs much of a lead-in.

Is it possible that the show will premiere on a different night of the week? Maybe, but that would be a bigger challenge than anything given that AMC has made the weekend their home for scripted programming. The only times that they have aired new shows during the week the past few years is for unscripted fare, and that has not always ended very well.

For now, what’s your take on the teaser? Share below.
