‘Longmire’ season 4: On renewal possibilities for Katee Sackhoff – Robert Taylor series
Tonight, the journey of “Longmire” will come to a close … at least for the time being. But will there be another go-around at this time next year? That’s the question we are still trying to get an answer to right now.
The one thing that we will say that gives us a little hope right now is that it’s not like A&E’s scripted TV department is flourishing at the moment. With “The Glades” canceled and with “Those Who Kill” flopping immediately upon its premiere, they don’t have a whole lot else save for their unscripted fare. It may be nice for them to have at least a couple of consistent players still around in between this show and “Bates Motel.”
We’d say that when it comes to actual ratings, “Longmire” is firmly on the bubble. It gets nice overall viewers, but most of them skew old and outside of the 18-49 demographic that advertisers look for. We know that it’s unfair for older viewers that this happens, but the truth of the matter is that it just does. Just look at “Harry’s Law” on NBC as a good example of a good show with viewers that still somehow got the shaft.
What could happen if the shows back? Without seeing the finale as of this writing, what we would like to see is a relatively unencumbered Walt and Vic heading into the new season. Robert Taylor and Katee Sackhoff have both had the same stories that have lasted for a very long time, and it feels like a good time to introduce new mythology and close out some of the old stuff. Plus, we’d like tonight to present at least a reasonably satisfying conclusion if this is indeed the end for the show.
Update: After watching the finale, we know the truth about the responsible party … however, there is still plenty of mythology for a fourth season, including the fate of Branch and if Walt can take Barlow down. The show is really daring the network for a renewal now, and we’ll just have to wait and see. The latest we could find out about one is the fall. We’re satisfied with the finale and the direction of the show this season, but of course we want more! How could you not after the suspenseful finale tonight?

This is by far one of the best acted and scripted show on television. Of course they ( network decision making morons) will probably cancel it and give us yet another inane sitcom or reality show. ( the kardashians suck a lemon!). Also what can be done to get all networks to cut out the totally useless and frustrating background music and loud noises? How are you supposed to hear the dialog?

A&E can’t get out of its own way. I’m really starting to dislike that tin-eared outfit very much. I hope there are owls in their future, lots of owls.

Do they think the 50 year and older demographics don’t buy products well maybe we meed to prove to them we do and not purchase anything they might be selling. Longmire was one of the few shows on that had a good storyline. I certainly hope USA picks up the show since A&E doesn’t think we are a good demographic. The show was finally coming into it’s own now all the back story has been filled in they could start story lines that would draw more viewers. Beautiful scenery, quality acting and plots that actually make you think a little, what a novel concept.

There is so little to view where the characters are of good quality and the storylines are so rich I certainly hope they bring this back. The final scene made me gasp. I’m dying to find out what happened. I have started purchasing some of the Longmire books but haven’t started reading them yet. This is a perfect ensemble cast and it would be such a shame for this outstanding drama to fold. Last season I nearly wore out the website trying to find out when the season started and I will do the same waiting for the next one to start. I believe that many of these abbreviated series on the basic cable stations are much higher quality than the major networks offer and this is surely one of them.

The only two decent shows on at the moment are Longmire and Ray Donovan. Now that Longmires season has finished that leaves just one.
I truly hope they renew this show, if they don’t the powers that be haven’t a clue!
P.s. I’m only in my 30’s

Love Longmire and would love to see a season 4. Now that I know there is a series of books I will be reading them until the new season starts. Sounds like a good book club pick.

Monday nights for me are centred around Longmire. Going to the city for a day? Making a dental appointment? Everything hinges on the fact that I HAVE to be home by the time Longmire starts. Having been brought up on TV cowboys and Indians show (how can you tell I’m the “skew old” part of the viewing audience if I say that “Paladin” and “The Lone Ranger” were my favourite shows as a kid?!) I’m hooked on this well-acted, fabulous scenery, great plot lines modern-day western. All I can ask A & E is to bring back Longmire for a fourth season so that I won’t be left with the dregs of TV shows (I wouldn’t watch them anyway but I have to justify the satellite TV expense each month!)

I wanna see “Walt does Philadelphia” and Branch gets
healed, and Absoluka County handles a tornado, Ferg does a TV fat loss reality and the whole town and res back him up and Walt and Vic have to crash the reality show for some crime, Walt teaches Vic to ride horses and Vic remodelsWalts house some, Walt and Henry and Omar get in a plane crash (I think Omar’s cool), Vic get pregnant, Henry and Walt get in more trouble together, Walt saves Mathias and they finally become friends, Henry gets married to someone really hot, Walt feels like music again, terrorists hide out in Durant, Walt gets kidnapped and Vic saves him this time, a new minister come to town and tries to get Walt and Vic to go to Church, and on and on and on……..

Longmire is by far the best show on TV. The acting is fabulous by all the actors, the storyline is spell-binding, and the real life issues are honest. This show is a real winner, and should not only be brought back for another season, but should be in the A & E lineup this fall in primetime. The more exposure it gets (and it deserves it !!), the more people will appreciate what quality television is all about.

The only show I watch, but a year between seasons is ridiculous. We will see, but there have been good shows taken down before and it only matters because older people do not fall for the stupid ads that these people churn out. They want the young more gulible consumers? I will read the books, my tv only went on for Longmire anyway so I can live without it if it doesn’t come back. It will be too bad though, very good series.

This is one of the good honest shows currently on TV. Easy to see how it appeals to the older demo above targeted 18-49, it doesn’t have trendy current music & it’s missing “players” hooking up weekly, yet it still draws way more viewers then other popular shows that are boarderline garbage. I’m 46, never been asked if myself & my wife watch the show, heck we even DVR it & end up watching it over the weekend when nothing is on Saturday night & Netflix has nothing interesting. It’s a great show, great cast, great storylines that take more then 10 mins to play out. Hopefully by September we can all breath a sigh of relief seeing the show has been renewed for 2 seasons, give the writers some more creative space to develop multiple story lines to play out over 2 years, just a thought. Just give Henry a break, he deserves it :)

it together.

If A&E doesn’t get the message from its viewers to renew LONGMIRE, it will be every bit as BAD as when (CBS?) failed to renew MOONLIGHT, that other OUTSTANDING TV drama series. Many viewers are still hurting over THAT one! WAKE UP and FLY RIGHT, A&E!!!

GREAT series – Walt and Vic need to expand to the book’s storyline about their trip to Philadelphia where Cady meets her future husband, Vic’s brother…oops! Did I say too much? Anyway, this show is a MUST for season #4, as long as it ends with Vic and Walt “tying the knot” of love that obviously binds them!

Longmire is the best thing on TV, the only thing I really watch. As for the Longmire books, the show is much better. Lets keep Longmire on TV.
Bruce Garthe
August 5, 2014 @ 9:25 am
Well, the show is better because of the VISUALS of the sexy, gorgeous Katee Sackhoff doggedly pursuing Walt. The books are better because Vic and Walt are “getting it on” much sooner than on the show. But when the show’s season ends, and all the Longmire books have been hungrily devoured, we rabid fans have to wait on Craig Johnson’s next Longmire novel and/or A&E’s season 4 renewal to continue this GREAT series’ adventures. There’s PLENTY of storyline left from Johnson’s books for SEVERAL more seasons of Longmire!!!

I would be very sad to see Longmire cancelled. The acting has been excellent, the plots strong, and the flow of each episode very smooth. The finale tonight was excellent and we all hope that Branch is the survivor. It would truly be sad to see a show of this quality, not return for a fourth season.

They have to bring it back. Did Branch get shot by his father or was he quicker on the draw? Walt thinks it’s Jacob who is responsible for his wife’s death- the show can’t end without him knowing the truth. But the best thing about the finale was my favorite (Henry) is out of that stupid legal battle and “Fails” gets his comeuppance. I’m going to start reading the Walt Longmire series- I can’t just sit around waiting for a next season! <3 Longmire!

AMEN! Craig Johnson is a fine artist! And amen again for the Matrix-escaped “Agent Jones!” I think the idea for Branch came from Turk in “The Cold Dish,” the rival banished to the HP. Aussies indeed seem to grow a great crop of terrific actors. Thanks and G’day!

Branch is still with us, for better or worse, IMO. Branch got the drop on Barlow. After Branch shot the clay pidgin, he still had one in the chamber. The shell he ejected (slowed view) was red. We see a red shell land in the dirt among red and gold shells. Barlow had to have been using gold ones. I think A&E will renew, they waited until Nov. to renew last year, so we’ll have to wait and see.

If we see it come back, I’m betting on a mutual wounding, probably with Branch getting the worst of it and daddy on the lam.

The books and the tv series are nothing alike. I like both but you cannot compare the two. The stories do match not up at all. Branch isn’t even a character in the books… Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the books but don’t expect any answers to the tv show in them.

This is what I love about the TV series. The characters’ personalities are very nicely captured, but there are only small borrowings from the books. FRESH STUFF — YUMM!
