‘Halt and Catch Fire’ season 2: Exec on what story could be

Halt and Catch Fire -Let’s start off this story about AMC’s “Halt and Catch Fire” right now with what would be considered the bad news: The show has not been renewed yet for a second season, despite how awesome of a program it is. It may ultimately be a while before we figure out whether or not the show does end up getting ultimately another life.

What we at least do know very well at the moment is that the show’s executive producer do have an idea of where they’d like to series to go. There have been conversations with the network about the future, but nothing is confirmed just yet; so with that in mind, let’s just turn to what Chris Rogers had to say to TV Guide about making this season great on its own, while leaving something still out there for the future:

“[We] have very definitive ideas about Season 2 that we’re really excited about. We have shared some of those with AMC. But in terms of this season, you do want it to be a satisfactory story on its own. I think the best shows manage to bring you a sense of closure, but also return you to this feeling of, ‘This is just a chapter in a larger story.’ We certainly didn’t see this as the end. There’s a lot more to come from these characters, and we’re hoping that we get to tell that story.”

It will be hard to justify the season 2 renewal based on ratings alone, but we would reason that if you make an effort to get the show on Netflix early, repeat it in a prime timeslot (like maybe after “Talking Dead” this fall), and continue to give it attention, maybe it will find more viewers over time.

What do you want to see when it comes to “Halt and Catch Fire” moving forward, and do you think at least one more season is essential to proving what the series can do? Let us know in the comments.
