‘Boardwalk Empire’ season 5 video: Take a look at the story ahead

On Sunday, September 7, you have to brace yourself for the end of an emotionally journey: “Boardwalk Empire.” Nucky Thompson has been on a long, intense, and at times dramatic ride, and now, that journey is starting to come to a close.

In the video, you can get a little bit of insight into just what this final season will contain. Executive producer Terence Winter explained that the show will be jumping forward seven years to the start of the 1930s, and we will see a world that is very different than the one we last saw.

For one, prohibition is finally coming to an end, as the government is looking for a way to boost up money as we dive deeper into the Great Depression. This is a chance for Steve Buscemi’s character to finally get on the right side of the law with his job, and pave the way for a better, safer for the future. Will that really happen for him? We have a hard time believing it, mostly for the simple reason that he cannot avoid some of his past actions forever. Even from a visual standpoint, there will be many changes. The tones will be more muted, and there will be different sorts of cars and buildings. Also, radio is now prevalent!

In addition to focusing on the 1930s, this season is also going to delve back into the past. You will meet a younger Nucky, and find out more about how his time as a child shaped the man he ended up becoming as an adult.
