TV Quick Hits: ‘Today Show’ musical; ‘Gotham,’ ‘The Mindy Project’ season 3 spoilers
“Today” gets musical – There’s really no other way to start this TV Quick Hits than with the news today that completely blindsided us: There is going to be a “Today Show” musical that happens live at some point before “Peter Pan Live” airs this December.
Kathie Lee Gifford, sitting alongside guest host Regis Philbin, made the big announcement today that she is writing such a project, which will feature most of the network’s on-air personalities. Not only that, but Regis will make a celebrity cameo! There are two immediate reactions to this that we have.
- This should in fact be hilarious and quite possibly a disaster.
- What if this is actually better than “Peter Pan” is?
Take a look at the video below. Meanwhile, in other news…
“Gotham” casts David Zayas – As a huge fan of “Dexter’s” Angel Batista, we’re thrilled to see Zayas get more work on this Fox series. Deadline reports that he will be playing the part of notorious gangster Salvatore Maroni in multiple episodes of the show. The character is actually one of Batman’s first foes, and also was played by Eric Roberts during “The Dark Knight.”
It’s to be seen how David will play this role, but we know from “Grimm” that he could do some awesome things with scary parts.
“The Mindy Project” gets “Sunny” – Specifically, they have gotten “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” star Rob McElhenny. All we really know right now via an E! News report is that he will be Morgan’s cousin on the show. Still, any news related to Mac is great news indeed.
