‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 6: Was Matt Davis almost done with playing Alaric?
Matt Davis has certainly been on a crazier journey than most on “The Vampire Diaries.” For the first three seasons, he was a series regular, but also did a variety of different things and played a variety of different facets of Alaric in that time. After the character was killed off, though, executive producer Julie Plec still found a way to bring him back on a handful of occasions.
However, there was a time in there where it started to look like Davis (who appeared in “Cult” and “CSI” during his absence from the show) was ready to move on. Speaking (per Digital Spy) recently, he admitted that before this opportunity to return as a series regular came up, he had considered talking with Plec about not coming back on the show in any capacity:
“It was very uncomfortable for me to come back as a guest star … I felt very much removed and out of sync with the whole experience.
“I felt awkward and I thought, ‘I don’t think I can keep saying yes to coming back in these little guest star appearances here and there, ‘cos it’s just too hard for me emotionally’.”
Luckily, we don’t have to worry about that now. Davis is going to be a big part of “The Vampire Diaries,” and we also know that we will specifically see Alaric now teaching at a higher college position … and possibly even getting a new love interest! Int he end, this guy is going to be a very busy man when episodes pick up on October 2.
