‘Elementary’ season 3 spoilers: ‘Mad Men’ actor set to return
Who doesn’t love getting a little bit more Rich Sommer on your TV set? He has already finished up work on “Mad Men” season 7 as Harry Crane (though there are some episodes still to air), and we now know that he’ll be coming back to another episode of CBS’ “Elementary.”
According to a new report from TV Guide, you can see Sommer return at some point as Harlan Emple at some point during the third season. We last saw him on the show in the second season, when Holmes called on his help in order to take on the case of a dead mathematician. This time, math could very well be involved again. (At least Sherlock is just calling on the gang from “Numb3rs” for help … or CBS crime show synergy.)
We’re very interested to see where “Elementary” goes moving into the third season, given that there is still so much more of the Sherlock Holmes lore that has not been brought up here. The only real problem that the series runs into most of the time is that much of the major threads are reliant on characters that are not always available. Take for example Irene Adler / Moriarty, who is played by a very busy woman in Natalie Dormer. We did get a lot of Mycroft in season 2, and maybe that is something that can be further explored at some point in the near future. The other issue is that you don’t want to follow the characters introduced in “Sherlock” too closely, either, that way you can avoid some of those comparisons.
